Do you deserve an island break on us?

Hi everyone! Investing in property can be a rewarding and pleasurable experience. But it can also be stressful if you’re not prepared for the challenges.

After some conversations with the ParkTrent team, we know that sometimes people just need to get away and to help you get away, ParkTrent is running a competition (valued at $5,000) to give you, and three others, chance to take a break on beautiful Hamilton Island – all on us!

If you’ve never been to Hamilton Island, you have no idea what you’ve been missing. I can tell you from personal experience that it is pure paradise with more than 60 activities to choose from including sports, adventures, and experiences for every interest and energy level.

Here is my list of the ten top things to do on Hamilton Island:

1. Find Nemo (and many of his friends) – Hamilton Island is in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.  A fringing reef surrounds the island and at low tide, the watersports playground of Catseye Beach turns into a snorkeler’s paradise.   Fish have been hand-fed here for more than 20 years, so their numbers are plentiful and their colours amazing.

2. Catch dinner – Head out on a fishing safari and the Chefs will cook your catch for dinner.

3. Get some therapy, naturally – A visit to the day spa will soothe the mind and body.

4. Fill the sails – take, or join, a sailboat cruise and see the Whitsundays from the water.

5. Get in touch with nature – take a strenuous walk to Passage Peak – the highest point on the island – where the views will take your breath away.

6. Get ‘Eventuous’ – time your holiday to coincide with one of the many special events that happen on the island – from major sporting extravaganzas such as the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week (August) or one of the world’s largest paddling events Hamilton Island Cup (June) right through to cultural experiences like presentations by The Australian Ballet at qualia or jazz weekends, Hamilton Island is renowned for its events and parties.

7. Paint a picture -Take home your holiday memories on canvas.  Art classes are conducted each week, under the tutelage of a visiting Artist in Residence.

8. Pump some adrenalin – hop on a jetski, it’s the fastest and best way to see the waters around Hamilton Island and to learn a bit about local history and marine life.

9. Say “I do“ – With a bit of planning you can marry in this idyllic paradise.  Wedding locations vary from a quaint chapel overlooking the sea to countless beachside and garden settings.  One couple has even got married underwater while on the island.

10. Do nothing – just relax, sleep in, laze around the pool and just do nothing!

Partk Trent’s Hamilton Island competition closes on 10 December 2011 – so get in quick.

For an even greater chance to win, simply spread the word to your friends and family! For every person you refer to the competition, you get an extra entry into the draw to win.

That’s it from me for now.  I hope these tips have helped give you some ideas

Regards

Ron Cross

Property tips for 2012: Hot suburbs

This is a common question. As 2011 draws to a close, research from RP Data and ParkTrent’s own experiences indicates that suburbs 10km outside capital cities will remain a focus for investors.

This is where you can still find real estate that is affordable.  Also, suburbs that are a little further out, but situated along major transport corridors will also remain high on the list for investors.

Something also to keep in mind is that investment opportunities in some large regional towns could be worth investigating. Some of these areas have seen significant government infrastructure investment to try to decentralise population growth. Cities like Townsville in Queensland are a good example.

If you’re looking to invest in either a capital city or regional town, don’t expect to find a bargain. You’ll need to accept that a good quality property is not going to come cheap. Remember that it is best to buy quality if you want to reap long-term rewards.

If your main interest is in capital cities, then you might find the following list a good start to look at some key suburbs within 10km of the CBD. (This data is from RP Data and ParkTrent’s own sources).

Please note we’re not factoring in the character, industries or amenities of these suburbs, which you should take into account when considering a suburb for investment.

ParkTrent Sponsors Melbourne Heart Youth Team

This post is from http://www.melbourneheartfc.com.au/default.aspx?s=aleague_newsdisplay&id=40795

Melbourne Heart FC National Youth League (NYL) Head Coach John Aloisi has unveiled his squad of future stars as the Club announced Park Trent as the team’s inaugural sponsor.

Following a nationwide search, involving trials for nearly 500 local players, the announcement of the NYL squad marks a major milestone in Melbourne Heart FC history, heralding a new era for the Red and White as it lays the foundation of a crucial development pathway.

With players hailing from regions such as Tasmania, Albury Wodonga, Ballarat and Bendigo in the squad, Heart’s youth side provides a genuine representation of the emerging talent of Australia’s Southern states, providing an affirmation of the Club’s commitment to developing youth.

And given the squad has been built on the basis of Melbourne Heart FC’s preferred football philosophy, developed upon Head Coach John van ‘t Schip’s two decades of experience at Ajax, the NYL side is set to be key contributor of talent to the first team in the years to come.

NYL Head Coach John Aloisi said Thursday’s announcement marked the culmination of a significant and extensive search for the best talent Victoria and Tasmania have to offer.

“After 10 months of searching, local trials, watching matches at state level along with our (Head Coach) John van ‘t Schip, (Assistant Coach) Ante Milicic and (General Manager, Football) John Didulica, it’s exciting to finally have a squad together. We are really looking forward to it,” he said.

“While we now have the talent in place, the challenge is now to further assist in the development of these young players and assist in their transition from promising youngsters into potential future first team contributors.”

Chief Executive Officer Scott Munn expressed his delight at the confirmation of Park Trent as the NYL team’s sponsor, praising the company’s continued dedication to youth sport.

“We are delighted to announce the largest ever National Youth League corporate partnership,” he said.

“Ron Cross of Park Trent has a demonstrated commitment of over 20 years to youth team sponsorship, and I’m so delighted to have such a great figure involved.”

ParkTrent is a well established company for property investment in Australia established by Ron Cross in 1989 and is committed to all aspects of the property market.

As a comprehensive group of companies, ParkTrent offers the convenience of the full range of services required to buy and sell property.
